In the U.S. street fighting is illegal. Street fighting refers to an organized, but unsanctioned, hand-to-hand combat between individuals or groups. Unlike sport fighting, weapons are often used in street fighting, making it far more dangerous than the average fight.

Though the act of street fighting is illegal, it is not illegal to purchase street fighting videos. Personally, I would recommend watching such videos because they will give you a better idea of how to defend yourself if you are attacked in public. Fighting for self-defense is not illegal even if it ends in a fatality.

Crime Deterrents

There has been an uptick in crime over the past year in our community. A home two streets over was robbed last week while the residents were out. I shudder to think what may have happened had they been home.

Until the criminals are caught we all need to be vigilant. One of the ways I’m protecting my family is my installing motion detectors and alarm security system in my home. Hopefully these visible devices will be a criminal deterrent, but if not, then the criminals could be caught on film, thus leading to a higher probability that they will be arrested and brought to justice.

Keep Safe with a Stun Gun

My work schedule was recently shifted. I now start work in the late afternoon and finish in the early hours of the morning. The new hours were not my preference, but the higher wages that go along with the bizarre hours are well worth it, at least for the next few months.

When I leave for home it is pitch black in the parking lot outside. Yes, there is security that patrols the area, but I’m not going to rely on them in case of an emergency. For my own peace of mind and sense of well-being, I carry a cell phone stun gun in my purse. When I walk to my car I keep one hand on my keys and the other on my stun gun, just in case.

Effectiveness of Bear Spray

Bear spray may sound like a joke product created by late night television host Stephen Colbert, but in fact, bear spray is very real and highly effective. In a survey of Alaskan bear attacks, when repellent bear spray was used it was nearly 100 percent effective. By contrast, using a gun to stop an attack is effective only 50 percent of the time, and that’s when multiple shots are fired to bring the bear down.

Bear spray is a form of pepper spray, but it is far more potent than what you would use on a human attacker. Bear spray is also deployed differently. It should be sprayed in a horizontal sweeping motion to form a cloud barrier. The spray produces an orange cloud, in addition to the pepper, which is a deterrent even to a charging bear.

Taser M26 vs. X26

The Taser M26 was introduced in 1999. It is a popular non-lethal weapon powered by eight AA batteries. Its design is such that it can easily be worn on an officer’s duty belt. The Taser X26 uses a lithium energy cell battery instead of AA batteries. It also has a battery life indicator, warranty counter, firing countdown, and USB port.

Overall, the Taser X26 is a more effective model. It is smaller, lighter, and pulls down suspects faster. The batteries last longer and the USB port makes it compatible with a number of devices that law enforcement officers use on a regular basis.

Taser C2 Protection

With a device as simple and easy to use as a Taser C2, you can defend yourself in almost any scenario. The Taser C2 has a 15 foot range so you don’t have to get close to a would-be attacker to defend yourself. I recommend testing out the distance so you can better judge how far away you can be from an assailant before you deploy the Taser.

If you need to use your Taser C2, aim for the center of mass. In plain speak, that means aim for the assailant’s torso as that is the largest target. You’ll know you have successfully fired your Taser when you hear a distinct pop….and then see your aggressor lying on the ground.

Advantages of Stun Guns

I would consider myself a non-confrontational person, but I am prepared to face down an attacker if need be. I always carry a stun master on me for personal protection, particularly if I’m going to be out late at night on my own. Stun guns, when you know how to operate them properly, are the best form of non-lethal protection, in my opinion.

My stun master can disable a grown man instantly. It won’t kill him, but it will knock him out long enough for me to get away and call the police. My stun master, like many stun guns, is also good for multiple usages, so if I don’t get in a clean shot on my first attempt to disable an attacker I can try again. I would highly recommend stun guns to any person concerned about their safety.

Using a Telescopic Stun Baton

Before using a self defense product for the first time, it is important to learn its ins and outs. You don’t want to end up accidentally hurting yourself! Take the telescopic stun baton, for example. The seemingly little tool can pack a powerful punch.

When using a telescopic stun baton you will first want to use the siren. This will potentially scare off an attacker. If the attacker is persistent, hit the trigger button which will expand the stun baton to its full length and activate the shocking mechanism. Touch the baton to the attacker’s body and they’ll be disabled, even through clothing. This should give you enough time to get away and call the police.

Security Made Easy

There has been a rash of break-ins in my usually quiet neighborhood. The police have investigated the robberies and told the community to stay vigilant by reporting suspicious activity. A neighborhood watch has been in action, but I’m still on edge.

To give us an extra layer of protection, I decided to install a wireless home security system. There weren’t any messy wires to deal with which made installation a breeze. Now I’ve got a sticker in my window telling criminals to beware, and in the event that they do try to vandalize my home, I’ll be able to get them on record so it will be easier to find the would-be perpetrators.

It seems that home invasions and break-ins are becoming more and more abundant these days since the nation’s economy took a turn for the worse back in 2008.
